Ordering in Korean: A Tiny Café Conversation ☕

You do not need a perfect accent to practice a small, polite conversation. Here is a café scene you can read aloud in less than a minute. ☕

You: 안녕하세요. 아이스 아메리카노 한 잔 주세요.

Annyeonghaseyo. Aiseu amerikano han jan juseyo.

Hello. One iced Americano, please.

Staff: 여기서 드세요?

Yeogiseo deuseyo?

Are you having it here?

You: 네, 여기서 마실게요.

Ne, yeogiseo masilgeyo.

Yes, I’ll drink it here.

Or, if you want takeaway:

포장해 주세요.

Pojanghae juseyo.

To go, please.

Staff: 더 필요하신 건 없으세요?

Deo piryohasin geon eopseuseyo?

Do you need anything else?

You: 없어요. 감사합니다.

Eopseoyo. Gamsahamnida.

No, thank you.

Three pieces worth remembering:

한 잔 — one cup / glass

주세요 — please give me

감사합니다 — thank you

Want two drinks? 두 잔 주세요 means 'Two cups, please.' Want something different? You can replace 아이스 아메리카노 with 라테 (latte) or 차 (tea).

Real cafés may ask questions in different ways. This is one practice dialogue, so focus on understanding and being comfortable rather than memorizing a script word for word.

What would you order? Write your drink + 한 잔 주세요 below and we’ll turn the comments into a tiny café. 💛
